How do I find the current version of TopoDOT software?
You can find the latest version of TopoDOT on our downloads page. You will also be notified when launching TopoDOT on your system if there is a new version of TopoDOT available via the MicroStation text window.
How do I know if I'm using the latest version of TopoDOT?
When you open TopoDOT, a MicroStation Text Window will appear. This window will list which TopoDOT version is running.

To check if you're using the latest version of TopoDOT while the program is open, save your work, navigate to the "Settings" tab, and look for a "Version Information" option. Click this option to view which TopoDOT version is running.
How often does TopoDOT release software versions?
TopoDOT releases two new major software versions a year. Typically, these releases happen at the end of the first and third quarter of the year. Each major version release is accompanied by a webinar explaining the significant tool updates and features included in the release.

In between major version releases, we may release additional software updates with minor enhancements and bug fixes. You can always navigate to the "Settings" tab in TopoDOT and select the "Check for Updates" option to see if a new software version is available.
What happens if I'm using an old version of TopoDOT?
In order to get the best experience and support, we strongly recommend updating to the latest version of TopoDOT upon release. This ensures that you can access new and improved tools, bug fixes, and more.

If you are on an old version of TopoDOT, we are not able to directly fix any bug you may encounter within that version directly. Please note that our support team cannot offer support for TopoDOT versions that are more than two years old.
How do I update TopoDOT?
To update TopoDOT, simply open TopoDOT, save your work, navigate to the "Settings" tab, and select the "Check for Updates" option. If an update is available, TopoDOT will prompt you to download and install the newest version.

Alternatively, you can access TopoDOT's downloads page to download the latest available version.
How do I know what's included in each release?
A Release Webinar will coincide with every TopoDOT version release, where Team TopoDOT will walk you the new features and updates available.

Upon release, the Changelog located in our wiki will be updated to include information about the latest updates and features, as well as how to use them.
Can I use the TopoDOT beta version?
Are you ready to explore TopoDOT's latest tools and features before they’re officially released? Switching to the beta channel gives you early access to cutting-edge updates.

Here's how to do it:
- Open TopoDOT and go to the Settings tab.
- Click Select Update Branch.
- Choose the Beta branch from the list.

What Happens Next?
The next time TopoDOT checks for updates, it will detect the beta version as the latest available update and begin downloading it automatically.

A Quick Note:
The beta channel is perfect for experienced users who are comfortable with TopoDOT’s features and workflows. If you prefer a more stable experience or are still getting familiar with TopoDOT, we recommend sticking with the latest stable release.
